Are there SP2 potential conflicts?

J

Jeff

SP2 will apparently change a lot of things, including firewall and other
security items. Many of us run other security utilities. I for instance use
Zone Alarm firewall, AVG antivirus software, Spybot, Ad-Aware, CWShredder,
Spyware Blaster, and HiJackthis. Have the beta testers found conflicts or
problems between SP2 and the above widely used security utilities?

Thanks.

If you run Zone Alarm, just turn off the XP firewall and you should be just
fine.

SP2 is really an OS upgrade. Which, in fact, will come with all the
usual issues that come with any OS upgrade. Chances are tho, it wont be
as bad as ME to XP :)

I am going to wait awhile before I download and install it. I will read this
and other newsgroups to see what problems it has. There's enough people out
there that are anxious to install it. I say, let them; I'll wait and see.

First thing it'll do after installation is verify your key.

It;ll allow install but then it'll lock you out from future updates if
key
is not legit

Sp2 may have a couple of item over and above all the regular patches
issued
since sp1 and not a lot more

I've seen a description somewhere of the contents that may be
installed on a one per one so as to avoid any embarassing dead-ends

good luck

Please bear in mind ALL you will pretty much read about here are the
problems the minority will report for SP2. The majority, with no
problems, seldom post with how smooth the system is working or how
trouble free the installation went. That really skews the data,
making it look as though the service packs are nothing but bug-ridden
headaches to be avoided at all costs.
