Are there any ink cost-effective all in one printers?

Hi group,
I need a new printer, black / colrs / fax / scan and so on.
I found the HP officejet 6310 that seems to be a real cool toy, but...the
ink cartridge is only 11ml so they need substitution much too often. Now I
have a offiicejet G85 that have 42ml and that should be minimum.

So, any recommendations for a printer that uses big ink-cartridges?

Check the Internet or the box to find all HP #s that will work.
Also, you might take a look at the Canon MP530 or MP830.

Here's another opportunity for me to plug the Canon MP780. While it
uses 11ml cartridges they are the non-chipped BCI-6 variety that can had
for cheap from compatible ink suppliers. There are still a few new
MP780s for sale on ebay if this is what you choose to buy.

I have been using this printer for over a year and it has done all I
have asked of it without any problems. It also prints very good photos
and the document feeder is great for copying, faxing or batch scanning
multi page documents. Another option is to get a continuous ink system
if you need an ultra high capacity ink supply.

You might take a look at the Officejet 7210, 7310 or 7410. They use the
#96 black cartridge. It does not hold as much ink as the #45 used in
your G85 but gives similar yields, rated at ~ 850 pages. (The ink used
in the #96 is darker than that in the #45 so less ink is used to print
the same page). See
http://h10060.www1.hp.com/pageyield/us/en/index.html for page yield
information for recent HP printers. (The 7210/7310/7410 series
Officejet's will have page yield about the same as the DeskJet 6940.)
See the following for the Officejet models I mentioned:

If you do not need the scan/copy/fax functions you might also consider
the K550 Officejet Pro, which has large cartridges rated at 2720 pages,
see http://h10060.www1.hp.com/pageyield/us/en/OJPK550/summary.html and

This printer claims a 30% lower cost per page than color laser printers.

I'd second Bob's suggestion of the K550. It's just a printer but has
amazingly low ink costs and is very fast, so you can hang on to the OJ
6310 for your faxing/copying/scanning/photo printing, and use the K550
for your high volume printing.

The brand new C6180 is similar to the OJ 6310 but uses the reliable and
efficient 6 ink system which prints black for about 3 1/2 cents / page
at normal quality, verses around 4 1/2 cents for the 6310. Like the
6310, this is a moderate load printer with a maximum duty cycle of 3k
pages/month, versus 5k for the 7000 series.
