Archiving with attachments

I tried to archive my sent items folder for all items from last year. Everything that did not have an attachment archived, but all messages that had attachments did not archive. No messages were marked Do Not AutoArchive. I'm running Outlook 2003 on Exchange 5.5
Do I need to remove attachments, or is there a step I missed along the way

AutoArchive works on the modified date of a message. If it hasn't been
modified for over x days/months it will be AutoArchived. Things like moving
the message will change the modified date already.

Thanks
Is there anything other than moving a message that will mark it as modified? I noticed that the messages in question are marked as if they had been modified at around 2:30am the previous night. I wasn't even in the office at that time, much less logged in to Outlook
Again, it's Outlook 2003 on Exchange 5.5

Sounds like that the virsscanner on the server scanned the message. This
modifies the date as well since the message is being accessed.
