Archiving trash before emptying it?

steve

I have not emptied my trash for 4 yrs. How can I save everything in my trash
somehow, before I empty it?

Create a new folder and move the content of the Deleted Items folder to it.
You can either drag and drop or select all mail and choose Edit-> Move to
Folder...

Once it is in a folder, is there a way to hide the folder or move it out of
Outlook and just burn it to CD?

Create a new pst-file by File-> New-> Outlook Data File... and move the
content to there. You can then burn that file to CD when Outlook is closed.
Copy it back to the HD and remove the Read Only property if you want to
acces it in Outlook again by File-> Open-> Outlook Data File...

1. Is there any chance that the new .pst will overwrite the main one?

2. How do you move the content to the new .pst?

3. When you open the .pst will it only be temporarily open in outlook almost
like opening a word doc in word? Just want to make sure that it is not
importing the .pst.

Thanks!!!

1) Nope. You can only overwrite files when you do that manually in Explorer

2) Select all the messages you want to move and then Edit-> Move to
Folder...

3) It connects the file untill you release is (rightclick on the root of the
folder and choose Close "Personal Folder Name"). Importing is only possible
when you do it manually via File-> Import and Export Wizard
