Archiving Issue

I have an Exchange 2003 Server and OL 2003. I ran Archiving from a user's
desktop so OL created a PST. Naturally all the emails where removed from the
inbox and placed in the PST. Here's what happened..

1) The folder structure & emails were removed. inbox\reports\nov07

2) The folder structure was created in the PST.

3) The folders in the PST ARE empty.

My issue is where do those emails go? I suspect that it was moved back to
the inbox. Is there a way of verifying that all the mail is there? I asked
the user to see if she recognizes emails that were "un filed" but she's not
sure.

Any Ideas?

you're certain you're looking at the correct archive.pst file? what were
the settings on archiving? everything over how many days/months old?

I verified that I'm looking at the correct PST. The files structure copied
but not the emails. The archive setting was everything older then a year.

Thanks,

Naturally. What do you think archiving is for? It's to remove older
messages from the mailbox.

They go to the Archive PST, of course. Click
Tools>Options>Other>AutoArchive and look where that is. Add it to your mail
profile. You should see everything it contains. You can move it back to
the mailbox if you choose.

Curious. How large is this new PST?
Also, are you sure you don't have a view applied?

I'm aware what archiving is for. However it doesn’t usually flush on the
folder structure. It created the folders in the PST BUT they are empty.

Alas, I cannot explain it. I have never heard of what you describe and I
don't recall ever seeing anyone post about it. AutoArchive won't remove
folders from the main PST, as far as I know. Since you're using Exchange,
have you tried Tools>Recover Deleted Items? Have you asked the Exchange
admins to use the backups to restore your mailbox to the state it was prior
to the archive?
