Archiving doesn't appear to work

On a user's mailbox, when we attempt to archive everything prior to
October 31, 2005, the archive completes with no problems, however we see
several messages that were received prior to the selected date.

I understand that archiving works based on Modified date, but I am
unsure how to check what the modified date of the message is.

We have attempted the archive on multiple machines with no luck, so any
assistance will be helpful.

I am having the same problem. Under Outlook 2003 help it said that messages
are archived based on received date or modified date, whichever is later.
Yes, I am also baffled.

RIght-click on the header line of the folder (i.e., the one that says
"Subject:, "Received", etc.) and choose "Field Chooser". In the top
drop-down, select "Date/Time fields". Click on "Modified" and drag it to
the header bar. Drop it where you'd like tio see it.

Thanks Brian,

Right after I posted I realized what was meant "whichever is later". Because
I am migrating from another email system, all the Exchange Server folders and
its' contents have a modified date set to the time of the migration. So in
another 6 months (as is the default), messages will get archived.
