Archive PST will not open

All my users have outlook 2003 installed (all fresh installs meaning I did
not upgrade from previous versions). Last week I was running out of disk
space on my exchange DB volume. I set up archiving for all users in their
outlook.

Today, some users are reporting an error when opening the archive folders.
These users archive PST is over 2 gb. I have been reading that outlook 2003
has a 18/20 size limit for archived PST folders. Can someone help me figure
out why users can not open their archived folders?

There are two types of PST files: 2003 types with practically no size
limit, and 97-2002 type with the 2GB size limit. Make sure that the PST
files are set up as 2003 types; you can see the type when you
right-click on the folder in Outlook, and look at the properties.
(97-2002 is explicitly displayed, 2003 is not).
