Archive Outlook 2007 IMAP - won't delete

N

nutshellml

I am using WinXp and Outlook 2007, I have my email set up with IMAP
and am looking for a way to archive emails older than a certain
period, but when I do it doesn't seem to delete the emails from the
inbox once archived, can anyone provide a guide or instruction on how
to set it up? When I used POP3 it worked, no problem, but with IMAP I
am having problems, and having to manually go in and delete old
messages.

Thanks in advance!!!

I am experiencing the exact same problem with my configuration as well. I am
using a Windows XP Professional SP2 client with Outlook 2007
(12.0.4518.1014). My backend mail system is a non-exchange IMAP based
system. When I set the archive properties on one of my IMAP mail folders in
Outlook and run the Archive program, all I get is an empty Archive Folder
with the same name. None of my messages get archived to the archive folder.
They still exist in the original IMAP mail folder.

Thanks,

Are you sure the modified (NOT received) dates of the items in the folder
are older than the archive date you've chosen?

Yes. For example, one particular message has a modified date of "Wed
1/31/2007 9:00 AM" while it's received date is "Sat 1/27/2007 12:03PM". Does
the archive program use modified date or received date? Either way though,
this message should have been archived. My archive settings are set to
archive any messages older than three months which as of today today equals a
date of 3/9/2007. I also have some folder set to permanantly delete messages
older that 3 months and this does not seem to be working either.

Thanks!
