Archive Folders -- how to get rid of them

L

LesU

I reset my TOOLS/OPTIONS/OTHER/AUTOARCHIVE/ to off (all options
grayed). I got 2 'archive folders' at the bottom of my 'all mail
folders' list, when I right click on either one of them, and click on
'close archive folders', I get an error box "the operation failed. An
object could not be found." With a button for OK.

I want to remove these two folders.
Thanks is advance. . .

You'll need to either edit the registry or create a new profile. A new
profile is recommended, unless you have a lot of accounts to recreate.

I need a little more info. I looked up profiles in OUTLOOK help and
nothing was applicable. I am using only all users, since the only
users are my wife and myself. How do I create a new profile to get rid
of the extra archives?

How do I use the existing archives? once I have closed archive
folders? I tried clicking on them and got no response.

Don't confuse Windows usernames with Mail Profiles, which is to what Diane
refers. Control Panel>User Accounts>Mail>Show Profiles>New is how you start
creating a new mail profile in WIndows XP.

In my system there is an entry for mail under control panel. It has
e-mail accounts, data files, and profiles, what should I do with them?
Under profiles there is one button for show profiles, which opens to
add... remove properties and copy... When I click add... create new
profile, I do and get a panel for e-mail accounts, and then I am
stuck, should I add or view or change a e-mail ? add or view or change
directories?

Since it's a new profile, you can't change anything because it doesn't
contain anything yet. Click Add to add your account back in. When you're
done, you'll want to add a data file, too, as well as a directory. The data
file you add will be the PST you wish to keep. The directory you add will
be the Outlook Address Book.
