After a couple of years using Outlook I thought it was time to ARCHIVE my
mail. The size of the *.pst file was 155mb before I started archiving.
After this process I had a new archive.pst with the size of 92MB (on another
disk). All archived mails are not in Outlook anymore.

But... then I found out that my *.pst file still is 155MB in size...

It seems I have now almost double diskspace in use....

You need to do an compact now, on your OST settings. This will clear the
"white space" used by the ost file.

Archiving (which moves a copy) or deleting items does NOT remove them
physically from the .pst file. They have been marked as deleted so
Outlook won't show them anymore but they are still in the file. You
need to compact the .pst file to purge the delete-marked items.
