Applying Patches and RIS

Hi
We build our PCs using RIS and the last part in to run a batch file that
installs all the latest patches. This is to ensure that the PC is secure
before SMS "kicks in". Everything was working fine but recently I have
noticed that a few patches are installing without error, creating the
registry keys and the backup files but the actual file version is not being
updated (This is being detected in MBSA). I am running XP SP2 and the files
are setup in the batch file as per Microsofts instructions to install
multiple updates with only one reboot. The files are installed in order, eg.
MS05-050, MS05-051... If I install the patches manully using the same
switches it installs fine, so I assume something is wrong with the updates
installing the latest version of a DLL. Has anyone seen this before?
Many thanks

Hi,

What are the update numbers this happens for, and what DLLs
aren't updated?

hi
the patches are (All MS05):
032 agentdpv.dll. I have 2.0.0.3422 installed. Should be 2.0.0.3423
036 mscms.dll I have 5.1.2600.2180 installed. Should be 5.1.2600.2709
040 tapisrv.dll I have 5.1.2600.2180 installed. Should be 5.1.2600.2716
042 kerberos.dll I have 5.1.2600.2180 installed. Should be 5.1.2600.2698
043 spoolssv.exe I have 5.1.2600.2180 installed. Should be 5.1.2600.2696
051 catsrv.dll I have 2001.12.4414.258 installed. Should be
2001.12.4414.308
052 browseui.dll I have 6.0.2900.2180 installed. Should be 6.0.2900.2753.

What is also odd in the case of MS05-052 is that I also install
MS05-020,MS05-025 and MS05-038 which should ALL increse the version of
browseui.dll to more than 2180!

thanks

Kieron
