Apply security patches on a WinXP RIS image

Hi,

I've been using RIS to deploy Windows XP on my network since a few years.
I've always upgraded the image with the current service pack to avoid having
a lot of security patches to install after the Windows installation.

As you all know, there is now tons of updates to install even if the RIS
image has SP2 integrated into it. Since SP3 isn't scheduled to be available
until 2008 and we don't plan on switching to Vista yet, is there a way I
could patch my current RIS installation to include all (or most) of the
security patches released since SP2?

Thank you!

When we do this, all we do is deploy the image to a box and get the updates
installed onto it. At this point then I can make any changes to the box,
like add or remove software that has changed or even make customizations to
the desktop that gets deployed. At them point all I do is create a new
image of the box and delete the old one. Now I have a new image with up to
date patches. We try to do this once a quarter to keep from having to many
patches to install.

I hope this helps!
