apply template to 2007 presentation

I can't find a way to apply a template to an existing 2007 presentation. all
I seem to be able to do is change the theme.

I'm sure I must be looking in the wrong place. Any help gratefully
appreciated.

The background might be added as a picture, thus changing the template
doesn't have any effect. Try this: Click View > Slide Master. Click on the
background and see if you can select and delete it. Once you are done, close
Master View.

Right click on the slide. Select Layout. If your master is created, you'll
see it here with mulitple layout options.
