Applications Terminate Immediately

I am trying to sort out my stepson's PC and have already
removed the Sasser Worm.

However there is a problem in that any attempt to run AVG
6.0, Norton AntiVirus, Sysedit results in the application
startup up but within seconds they terminate.

Also note that attempts to remove and re-install software
are prevented in some cases as uninstall also closes down.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Are you sure it is completely removed it? It is not easy to remove. Check

Will check but I did use the Symantec Worm removal tool.
