My explorer.exe crashed many times for the past few days
and this is the error message event viewer (system) gave me:

Application popup: SysFader: explorer.exe - Application
Error : The instruction at "0x77f57ec4" referenced memory
at "0x00000067". The memory could not be "written".

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program

I am running Windows XP Professional Version 5.1 (Build
2600.xpsp2: Service Pack 1)

If you need my hardware info: Intel Pentium 4 2.66 GHz,
512MB DDR333. This problem only happened recently, the
system have been running perfectly before that.

I searched google but found no solution. Someone suggested
me to download and run memtest86 -
http://www.memtest86.com/ - and there is nothing wrong with
my pyshical memory.

Can someone give me a solution, please? Is this a physical
hardware problem or problem with windows? Thank you :)

Cheers,

William

I don't know what you mean by "searched Google but found no solution".
Entering the search term "SysFader" into Google brings up 115 links,
the first one of which explains what SysFader is quite well. Perhaps
your Office installation needs to be repaired. Also, have you done the
normal Windows troubleshooting; i.e., scanned with current av, removed
spyware, cleaned out temporary and Temporary Internet Files, minimized
the amount of programs/services running in the background? If yes, then
post back with what you've done so people responding to your question
don't waste time telling you things you've already tried.

Well, I did searched google but there are no solution for me. My
microsoft office is up-to-date (officeupdate), my windows is also
up-to-date (windows up date). I have scanned the computer with the anti
virus (virus database updated - mcaffee av). I have scanned the computer
with a spyware scanner and found none, cleaned out temp internet files
and temp - yes I have done that too. I also searched the computer using
ad-aware too.

Minimizing the service running in the background, I have done that since
I first installed windows XP a few months ago.

I also defragmented my hard disk (NTFS) if you really want to know what
I did.

I did all the things you told me on a regular basis, and they are okay
until recently. I don't know how to trigger the problem though, mostly
it happens when I click on start-menu or explore around with windows
explorer.

See, if you'd said you did all those things in the first post, I
wouldn't have bothered to repeat old news to you. Try doing a repair
install of your Office, then. And the next time it happens, bring up
Task Manager and see what's running. Another useful thing to do is post
in one of the MS Office newsgroups, where they might know the answer.
Here's a list of MS newsgroups:
