I downloaded McAfee Viruscan and thought it was running fine. When I start up
my computer the picture of the Mcafree Label pops up in the center of the
screen. It has no writing in the box and won't let me click off. It stays
there and when I run the task manager, it says the application is running,
but it won't stop. I want to delete this program, but can't find it anywhere
on my computer. How do I delete it?

System Restore would be the simplest way. Take the machine back to
the last Restore point before McAfee was installed.

I just got ths laptop and am not sure how to restore without losing my
downloads from today. I found th restore button, but its asking about disk
space used etc. Im lost

If you just got the PC, then it probably has a recovery disk set or
a link to create a Recovery disk set. Check your documentation &
complete this before doing much else with the PC.

Many times OEMs include software, such as Trial versions or other
things you may not want or require. Usually, I recommend that new
PCs have a clean-up session with Add/Remove programs in Control
Panel (Classic View). You should review the program listing and
remove anything you don't want or will use.

As to AntiVirus protection, I'd recommend you download and use
a 1-Year free subscription to Computer Associates eTrust 7.0. It's
(IMO) a better product than either Norton or McAfee.

The signup and download for eTrust can be found here:

System Restore only changes the System State. It wouldn't remove
any downloads. However, any programs installed after the Restore
Point was taken would be removed.
