application hang in powerpoint 2003

I can't get powerpoint 2003 files to open in powerpoint 2003. There
seems to be some kind of application hang. Does anyone have any tips
on how to track this problem down and fix it? Any help would be
appreciated.
 
Open PPT, then go to Help/Check for Updates. Install SP-1 for Office 2003.
