it down. Here's the info. from my Event Viewer Application window. The M/S
Knowledge Base says "Currently there are no Microsoft Knowledge Base articles
available for this specific error or event message." Can someone please
suggest how I should proceed?

I would do a search for sinf.exe and find out what program that is. then, at
least temporarily, disable it. You might do a search for it in Google, it
appears to be spyware

That file is associated with AOL.

Rock,

You're correct, it's part of an AOL program. It works much like Windows
XP "System Information". It gathers information about the computer and also
info. about AOL. Until recently, it worked well. But now it opens and then
freezes on the first page. I can't use any of the six tabs that the page
contains. I can't even exit it using the "X" at the top of it's window. If I
right click it's entry in the Windows Taskbar I can choose to force it to
shut down.

But that doesn't get me any closer to understanding if the problem is
in AOL or in Windows. I was hoping that someone could interpret the info. in
the error report so that I'd have some clue as to how to proceed in tracking
down the source of my problem. (Unfortunately, talking to AOL was a
monumental waste of time. Surprise!)

IMO, get rid of AOL.
