I am getting an application error with IE. I use version
6.0 with Windows XP. The message is "IEXPLORE.EXE
Application Error. Instruction at 0x01ed806f referenced
memory at 0x020ffa90. The memory could not be written."
There is also a similar message for Hb5rv.exe and
CMDL32.exe.

Anyone have any ideas on what is going on and how to fix
it?

Thanks.

The error message is generated because you have some parasites.

Hb5rv.exe and CMDL32.exe. are unknown to me. You may have some new variant
of some malware.

From the link above get HijackThis and get help from the forum if the
conventional removal tools fails.
