Application Error Message - bad version: 4

I get this error when I try to run Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 ....and it aborts.
I have downloaded and installed the latest drivers for the graphics card.
I have downloaded and installed the latest version of DirectX.
I have killed all applications except TASKMGR and EXPLORER as suggested.
I have killed all processes relative to my userid.

Nothing seems to work.

On top of that, I am on the other end of a telephone connection (24k bps
tops!)...so this is a very painful experience!

Desperate in Vermont...can anyone tell me the answer?

I Googled your error message and got this from the following site:

http://www.frontier.co.uk/games/rct3soaked/faq.html#_Why_do_I_receive an Application err

"This is usually caused by not uninstalling the beta completely. You should
uninstall RCT3 and then ensure that all files and folders have been deleted
from the installation folder. You should then reinstall RCT3."

This is not an XP issue. For further help with problems with Roller Coaster
Tycoon, contact the game's tech support.

Thanks!....trying to follow instructions at :

http://www.frontier.co.uk/games/rct3soaked/faq.html#_Why_do_I_receive an Application err

I click on the "here" link to download the file, and it opens it up in my
browser.

When I try to do a "Save As", it won't let me save it as a ".fix"
filetype...and
if I save it as any other filetype (i.e. html or txt), I can't change it
later...

Any ideas?
