Apple Safari for Windows

I just learned about this today. Safari for Windows XP and Vista is
still in beta, but it should be interesting to see how XP and Vista users
take to this new browser. When the final release is out, I will be curious
to see if the Safari speed boasts are accurate.

Supposedly the final release for Windows Safari is October. The ads
brag that Safari loads pages twice as fast as IE 7, and 1.6 times faster
than Firefox 2.

Surely download speed from the server is the most significant factor
here, not how quickly the browser renders the page?

Safari for Windows may still be beta, but it already works very well and
appears to be quite stable.. I have been using Seamonkey, and I must say
Safari is definitely faster at rendering pages.

It may be of interest to note that, despite Apple's claim that it
requires XP or Vista, I was able to install it on a W2K SP4 system with
no problem at all.

I installed Safari on an XP PC and on a Vista PC. Vista won't let me
specify Safari as the default browser but XP does! Vista accepts the change
but ignores it and starts my former default Firefox (not IE). I am still
evaluating Safari (on the XP PC) not ready to give you my opinion yet because
I am evaluating Vista on my Laptop. Not particularly happy with Vista - my
opinion at present re Vista - wait a year.
