Thank you for any help.

I have 6 brand new hp pavilions, one is a pavillion elite 9340f quad
core and 5 are hp pavillion 6400f on which I am running a peer to
peer network with a single win32 application all running Vista Home
Premium SP1.

I intended to load the application and the data onto the 9340 box, but
I have a problem networking to any of the new boxes.. If I run the app
on any of the new computers, I get this message on the workstation:

Description:
A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows.

I can run the app using the old "server" box, an XP Pro machine, and,
I can run the app from my Vista laptop running Vista Ultimate using
the new hp's as workstations.

It would appear that there is a "buggy" version of windows explorer on
the new Vista boxes???
Windows explorer 6.0.6000.16549 on the ultimate box is working fine.
Windows Explorer version 6.0..6001.18000 on he hp elite 64 bit Vista
home premium box is not working.

Is it feasible to use the earlier explorer version on the 64 bit OS? I
really would appreciate suggestions.

Resolved. The problem was simple sharing. It apparently cannot be used
on this version of Vista. You have to share with password protection
and create account(s) and password(s) on the server with administrator
rights that match the account and password on each workstation, also
with administrator rights.

"If you have password protected sharing disabled, use the File Sharing
window to select the Guest or Everyone account. This is equivalent to
simple file sharing in Windows XP."...works in Vista Ultimate not in
64 bit version even though everyone is shown with full control as
permissioions.
