appending or inserting files

I hope this is the right area to enquire: I am being driven to
distraction by menus for selection/appending/inserting files which come
out as icons. A picture of a folder is nearly useless and takes up five
times as much space as a List of folders would. I want it to always and
in every instance come up as List. Is this an unreasonable request?

Any advice will be gratefully appreciated.

What application are you using and what are you trying to achieve.

Are you trying to do a list of files/folders?

an example that springs to mind is: each morning, I send emails which
contain a handful of pictures. when I hit attach, I get a little
dialogue box which is located at the point where I was when I last
searched the directory.

I then have to change the style of display to list, before navigating to
the point where I will now select files to append. Hope that is clear.

Yep, clear - it appears Outlook Express or Outlook is not remembering the list view. I
checked OE myself and mine is set in list view as previously used.

Suggest you try the more specialised Newsgroups for Outlook Express or Outlook depending
upon what you're using.

Internet Explorer 6/Outlook Express
(Web interface)

(OE Newsreader)

or for Outlook - check the Office Newsgroups

or Office:

Microsoft Office Newsgroups:-

or

I've already contacted Karen with very good results. Thanks for posting
the tip.

Ah, I have been somewhat fibbing, because I am using Thunderbird, but I
am still annoyed; if the folder is entirely doc or xls files, it may
appear as a list, but you slip just 1 picture into it, and it becomes
icons. I prefer my icons in church. Thanx for posting!
