Appearance of Desk Top Short cut

The Desktop Short Cut Icons look normal when logging on to my account in
Windows XP.

When my girlfriend logs in under her account the Desktop Icon Name is
surrounded by bold block (or rectangle)?

In Display settings everything seems the same for both myself and her.

Either by Pressing CTRL + B to turn the Bold OFF or try this:
Right click on your Desktop ( all that in Her Account) and select properties.
On the Display Properties click on Desktop Tab then on Customize Desktop.
Click on web Tab and make sure there is nothing selected there.
Click Appearance Tab and see these options:
Windows and button:
[ ][v]

Color scheme:
[ ][v]
Font Size:
[ Normal ][v]

Click on Effects Button and make the proper changes.
You can see these settings on your account first and note the settings down
if you wish.
Click [OK] and Reboot your machine and try her account, does this help?.
If you still then does she use an optimizing Program to create her own
Shortcuts.
You can download for her the TeawkUI:
Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP (TweakUI)
