Is there a test file (like eicar) or similar that I could use to test
if my anti-trojan works? I am currently test driving several ones and
I am curious how they react in real life situtuations.

Rename eicar.com to vacation_pictures.com and the file
magically becomes a trojan, no?

....but seriously..

If you Google Groups for the term "Trojan Simulator" you will
see a post from not too long ago where a link was posted to
download such an item. I'm not sure how well received, by the
professionals, the whole idea was though. IIRC it was from the
creator(s) of Trojan Hunter.

Why don't you back up your box; run an inventory of files and registry, and
download a copy of netbus?

You'll be able to determine WHEN the Trojan is discovered; how your AT
reacts; and how completely it cleans up afterward.

When you're done playing, restore your box. (I do this with viruses when
testing AV's)

(BTW, Understand that some viruses will try to physical damage - but do your
homework before playing with one of these.)
