I tested Kaspesky 5 and was diappointed

I downloaded the final version of Kaspersky Av Personal 5 and the KAV
for workstations 5 (maybe beta but should be very near the release
version)). Mostly I was disappointed with the "professional" one KAVW.
It is surely a nice option to an Average Joe, but for freaks like me
it was too simple. There is very little possibilities to change the
options, I couldn't download the extended defs etc.

It was acting quite strangely when I tested it with the eicar
testfile. The good old KAV 4.5 screams already when I click the
download link for eicar zip, nothing can hide from it. The new one let
me download the zip-file and save it on my disk. I could even open the
zip-file. When I tried to move the eicar.com -file out of the archive
or when I was trying to run the file I got a system information box
telling me " Windows can not find the file". I never got any warning
from KAV although I had choosed the option "Deny access and ask user
for action". And the KAV log did not show any viruses find either???

No reason to upgrade to v. 5 if it continues to act that silly...

The last time I checked, good 'ol version 3.5 from the Swiss site is
still available and working well. That one is my all time favorite for
a GUI version av.

It's still a great product. I use KAV (or AVP if you will) 3.5 as a
backup AV along with NOD32 on my XP Pro machine. Works like a charm.
For those that want to use it as an on-access AV, AVP Monitor is
absolutely compatible with Windows XP.

Which version of 3.5 and from where did you get it?
