Anyone use 'compatible' laser toners?

Hi
Anyone use 'compatible' laser printer toners?
I've got a Lexmark Optra R+ laser printer and wondering if there are any makes of 'compatibles' I should avoid?

Or is a remanufactured toner better?
Does a remanufactured toner have a new drum? (mines an all in one toner/drum)

TIA

Hi Andy,
This is just what we do. In some cases you will find that a
remanufactureed toner cartridge WILL give you longer life than the
original. We rebuild cartridge always with new drum and blades. The
customer should always have a product that is comparible to a new
cartridge.
As to the makes no. But by one a from a company who builds them
themselves eh a small business owner in your city.

Thanks for the info. I forgot to say I'm in the UK.
But the problem is finding a good company who do replace the drum as well as refilling the toner.
Anyone got any UK company recommendations for remanufactured toners?

Thanks for the info. Have you used them?

Bit confusing as they talk about "refilling your cartridges while you wait" and say "....and replace all wearing parts in
toner cartridges."
Can't see how they can replace the drum, etc in the toner cartridge while you wait? I'd thought it takes quite a bit of time
to replace all the bits?

I am the manager at Cartridge World, Oxford (01865 764454). Basically the
system works like this; You bring in your used cartridge and we will
remanufacture it for you. Firstly we check to see if we have a
remanufactured one in stock, if so, we just swop them, if not, then as
follows;
1. Clean the cartridge case.
2. Take it apart cleaning out all the used toner.
3. Check all parts and replace where required. Our own parts are built to a
higher specification than the originals as we expect the cartridge to be
refilled 'ad infinitum'.
4. Complete putting cartridge back together, after refilling with toner
(same specifications as original, sometimes higher).
5. Clean cartridge case and do at least three prints on test laser to ensure
all ok.
6. Label and package ready for customer.
Cartridges can be done whilst you wait, the time depends on the cartridge,
some can be done in 15 minutes others may take 11/2 hours. You are welcome
to wait, have a coffee or call back.
We give you an uncondional warranty, in that, 'If you are not happy in any
way, shape or form, just return the cartridge with your receipt and we will
gladly refund your money', at the same time we also warranty your printer,
so, should any of our refilled cartridges damage your printer (not happened
yet!), we will pay for the repair of the printer, if applicable, or, replace
it at no cost to yourself.
You have nothing to lose but will certainly save upto 60% of the cost of
replacing your cartridge with a new one by having it remanufactured.

Thanks for the info.
The printer is Lexmark Optra R+ Toner part number is 1382100 (7000 page) or 1382150 (14000 page)
It's the drum replacement I most concerned about as there are faint lines on the paper even if I print a blank sheet.
Is the drum replaced with a "new" one or a "refurbished" one?
And cost for above toner?
Thanks
Andy

well
as refilling the toner.
Hi Stick,

Refreshing to hear the trouble you go to, in refurbishing
toners/cartridges. Does your business also handle ink jet cartridges
for Epson printers, and packages for HP Laser Jets? Do you accept
spent cartridges etc. for refilling/swapping? Do you have a mail
service, to Ireland?

If the answer is in the affirmative to all, please send me a mail shot
at (e-mail address removed).

I got a load of 'compatible' cartridges from the UK that didn't work
and had to be thrown out. Very expensive 'cheap' alternatives.

Incidentally Andy, best of luck in sorting out the problem with the
printer.
