Anyone tried refilling Canon IP4200 cartridges?

I have a load of generic inkjet ink which I purchased for my Canon
i560 just before it bit the dust with an electrical fault.

Can anyone hazard a guess as to whether the same ink will work in the
Canon IP4200?

I've read a post (maybe from Zakezuke) that the colors are essentially the
same except for magenta.

I've been using my old inks for the 6 cartridges- for my old 6000- in
the 6600 (same inks as the 4200 except for pigmented) without any
obvious problems.
