i do most my work on portable pendrive, but i would like to keep a
synchronised backup on my main p.c.

i've read reams about using briefcase but it's still not clear

which is the original, which is the copy?
which version should be in the briefcase, or maybe both should?
do i put a briefcase on the remote source or on the local source (or both)?
do i put the originals in a briefcase from the local source, then drag the
briefcase to the remote? or drag the originals from the local source to a
briefcase on the remote source?

it's a clear as mud

can anyone make it simple, bearing in mind my particular situtation

Perhaps off line files would be a better option. I use off line files to
synchronize my notebook computer with my desktop. Ample information can be
found in windows help files.

sounds perfect - i set 'offline files' enabled - set my pendrive to "share
this drive" selected my pendrive in explorer window, but there's no option
on the File menu to "Make Available Offline"

any clues?

Vexed by the Briefcase finer points, I was looking at this thread. Not doing well. I input the phrase "off line files" and found nothing in at Microsoft.com help!
