beginner trying to use briefcase

i'm having a thickheaded moment figuring out how to set up briefcase. i'm
using it b/c i have folders of files on my laptop and desktop, which i add to
on both and would like to keep in sync. both are running vista.

am i understanding the steps?
setup a briefcase on the desktop
add in folders i would like to put on the laptop
drag that briefcase onto the laptop
is that it? those files will then be available when i am away from my
network? and from then on, i just hit sync whenever i add the new work and it
will sync up the other computer?

sorry for the dumbbell question!

Yeah, you seem to have got it, although I have not used Briefcase for many
years. I used it back in the days of Zip disks, when I was a student.

I think it's just in Vista for people that are used to it. SyncToy would be
a more modern equivalent. There is a beta of the second version available
as well.

Briefcase is good if you were moving stuff around on a Zip disk, or floppy
disk, or even a flash drive, but with networked computers, SyncToy makes
more sense.
