There are two sets of SATA connectors. The black ones are referred to as
"Intel Matrix Storage" and the blue ones as "Discrete Controller." What
are the differences?
The black ones are run off intel SATA controller, the blue ones are run of
an older (silicon image, maybe) controller. Theoretically, the black ones
have the potential to be faster. But as all SATA drives are still trying to
catch up to the speeds of the original SATA specs., in actual practice . . .
there should be no difference. But if you are superstitious, run your fast
hard drives off the black ones, and if you run out of connectors, put your
optical drives on the blue ones.
