Anyone getting error messages since latest critical updates?

P

Since installing the latest critical updates (12/11/07) I have experienced
numerous error messages. I'm using Windows XP Pro with IE6. There were 8
updates in all and nothing else was changed on my system nor did I have any
errors prior to the updates.

I was having the exact same problem. Updating to IE7 seemed to fix the
problem.

Yes i am also getting errors. When I try to open IE6 on windowsXP home
edition I get the error saying an error was encountered and needs to
shut down . I send the report and try again . Sometines it opens on
the next try sometimes I need to send 2 or 3 reports before it will
open . Thinking of starting to use netscape if it continues. Must have
someting to do with the updates downloaded . Everything fine until
they were downloaded

I've been having same issue as others in this thread. The first time I open
IE6 I get the "Encountered error and must shut down" message. In my case,
whether or not I send an error report, after the shutdown, when I reopen the
browser comes up and operates in normal manner!

I do not want to upgrade to IE7 to fix it.

I also removed the same update and IE6 seems to be ok . When I rebooted the
little yellow triangle appeared in my task bar telling me Kb942615 was ready
to be installed . How to I get rid of this and how will I know when it can
be reinstalled

I removed Kb942615. I'll see what happens. I didn't get an error after
restarting so this is encouraging. Anyone know how to let the powers that be
know about this update and the headaches it's causing?

I have tried to find a way to notify microsoft but no luck, anyone get
through to the support people? They should be responsible for fixing this
!!!!!

I tried to find somewhere to notify someone at Microsoft, but it appears that
Microsoft wants to be paid even if someone is trying to help them.

On a Windows XP SP2-based computer that has certain cumulative security
updates for Internet Explorer installed, Internet Explorer 6 may stop
responding when you try to visit a Web site

Turn off your anti-virus and anti-spyware programs then reinstall KB942615
and then turn them back on.

There appears to be a problem with kb942615 and IE6. You suggested in other
posts that user should turn off antivirus and antispyware programs, remove
kb942615, install kb942615 and then start av and aspy programs back up. Here
you suggest to install kb942367. I'm wondering if the problem that users are
experiencing is really understood. No problems prior to installing critical
updates available 12/11/07. Problems begin immediately after install.
Removal of kb942615 stops problems and may render other critical updates from
12/11/07 useless. None of the 12/11/07 critical updates are listed in info
page for kb942367. After install of the updates I started getting errors when
attempting to use IE6. Errors like the following:
iexplore.exe - application error
The instruction at "0x74986060" referenced memory "0x00000000". The memory
could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate program.

The numbers changed, but the problem continued.
Replace numbers above with "0x74985dfe" "0x00000020". Error was the
same...just different numbers.

Do you work for Microsoft Frank?

I should have added the urlmon.dll hasn't been in any of the error messages
that I've received. Isn't kb942367 relevant to errors involving kb942367?

Disable your virus scanner, and try reinstalling it afterward. You can
re-enable virus scanning when the installation is complete. See if it will
work after that...

No. You didn't read it, did you?

I really appreciate your patience with me Frank and your willingness to share
your knowledge on these discussion groups. Are you using IE6? I'm wondering
if the problem would be experienced on a machine that you have which is using
only IE6 and not IE7? Thank you again for your time here.
