Anyone get Spy Sweeper to run with Vista?

Webroot Spy Sweeper, one of the best anti-spyware programs on the market,
will NOT run on my computer. It shows up in the "blocked startup programs'
as 'not yet classified'. Have any of you found a way to get it to run and
if so, how? Has Microsoft or Webroot said anything about it?

Thanks!

Hi Mary,

Webroot has a beta version for Vista. I would suggest going to Webroot and
downloading that.

Tom,
I appreciate that but I bought the program in July and it doesn't expire
until next July. Wouldn't that negate my purchase?

Thanks!
Mary

I don't think so. But just to be on the safe side, I would contact Webroot
and see what they say.

Tom,
Where do you see a link on the Webroot page to download the version for
Vista? If it's there, I am blind!

Above is the URL for submitting a ticket to Webroot/SpySweeper. They DO have
a beta version out, which I am currently using. It is SpySweeper with
anti-virus included. I have it on my XP Pro partition, and will be installing
it on my Vista partition to try in a few days. I use SpySweeper and Windows
Washer both from Webroot and have tested a few betas of theirs. I am very
pleased with their products.

Go to the "Submit a ticket" Webroot page (above), and ask them about the
beta version and Vista. They have always been EXCELLENT with me as far as
support issues. Also, I have disabled Windows Defender because of the
blocking it does. I have consequently been able to run AVG, Avast, A-Squared,
Autoruns, WinPatrol, etc. sucessfully on Vista. I would really like to
utilize Windows Defender as well, but it will not permit user input even with
an enabled Administrator account on my Vista.

Good luck.

I didnt see one on their site either. I contacted Webroot support and they
did not indicate they had a beta available even though I spec. requested one.

When I contacted Webroot about this, they replied that it was not recommended
to run Spysweeper on Vista at this time as it was not being tested on Vista
by them yet. I am sure that they will address this in the future. I have
Spysweeper on my other two computers and like it very much. A-squared works
on Vista, and so does the Ewido component of AVG 7.5 Internet Security
program. I use Ewido and A-Squared on my other 2 computers as well. They are
very good programs.
