Anybody know why my icons are displaying like this?

All (Yes all) My Windows XP Home icons are showing this black lightning bolt
as well as showing as "hidden." I was wondering if anybody has ever seen this
before? I took a screen shot to show you what I mean:

Did this happen recently?
Did you install any new program that might associate the files in your
screenshot with it?
Have you checked for virus spyware etc?

Hello,
Actually, it is a brand new computer. These are file that I added from an
external hard drive from my old computer.

No new programs have been installed and I have run various virus scan
programs on it with no results.
