Any way to turn off the AVG popups?

I recently went looking for a past episode of a TV show and I installed a
bunch of p2p programs to find it. (After numerous trys, I finally got lucky
with Bearshare).

I knew these programs were full of spyware and trojans, etc, and I planned
to uninstall them and run all antivirus/spyware programs when I found what I
wanted.

When I was searching for the TV episode, every 5 seconds an AVG popup would
come up telling me about something new.

Is there anyway to turn this off?

Yeah - disable the AVG...
