Any way to set up network manually between two systems?

I have one monitor and can't see a way to do this so I don't have to
endlessly swap the HUGE monitor back and forth.
I would like to set up network settings on the old system first and then
move to the new system.

Why don't you just buy a KVM switch? It makes you able to
switch between 2 computers with one mouse, keyboard and
monitor.

A simple KVM switch would let you hook one keyboard, mouse and monitor
to multiple PC's and switch back and forth between them.

You could also buy a used 15" monitor for less than $25.00, which
might be the easier solution.

Good Luck...

All I need is access to the files and the HD space on the old system.
I don't have room for a second monitor.

I would just like to network the two machines but I don't know the settings
to change. Using the wizards appears to need both systems working at the
same time. Being confined to a wheel chair makes moving my monitor around
very difficult.
At this point it appears I will need to wait for someone to do it for me
next weekend before I can use my new system.

You don't need a second monitor if you use a KVM switch.
They aren't that expensive and very easy to use.
How does this help me get access to the files on my old system so I can use
them on my new system?
