Any Way to Recover Overwritten File?

Thinking I would save myself some time, I took Word Document #1 and changed
some of the language and designated it as Word Document #2. I have done this
before without any problem, but I think I clicked save before save as. Now I
have Document #1 and #2 with the same content, the changed version.

I have looked everywhere I know to look in my computer to see if I could
find the earlier document. Is there anyway to recover the original document
without doing a system restore, which of course would cause me to lose other
material?

All ideas are appreciated. I'm running MS Windows XP Home.

Not really. It's likely lost forever.
Perhaps - if you do this often - something like "Executive Software's
Undelete" would be a good product to purchase/install/use.

You could allways try Start>run and type %temp% to see if you have a
old copy stored in there somewhere. Most likley not

Sorry, but no. Not only can you not recover it without using System Restore,
you can't recover it even *with* System Restore.

System Restore restores the operating system. It is not a backup tool, and
does nothing to restore your data.

Well, I thought that might be the case. Thanks everyone for responding.
