any update that screws the system?

hi. i'm planning to update my vista. is there any update that screws the
system and i should avoid? also, what are the pre and post requirments of
updating the system. i remember in certain updates xp required turning off
of system restore.

It never required turning off system restore for any XP updates.

That is the whole idea of having System Restore.
If it screwed up, you could go back before you installed the update

For some updates you had to turn off Anti-virus and anti-spyware programs
in XP.

You can record a restore point manually and then turn the restore system off
momentarily.

But then Vista is supposed to be user-friendly, isn't it?

You can record a restore point manually and then turn the restore system off
momentarily.


Turning off System Restore, even momentarily, deletes all existing
restore points, including the one you just created manually.
