any options to resolve this

Articus

I attempted to download (publish) my web site from server to my new PC
(running WindowsXP) I received the following message:

The destination web (my new PC) ignores case. The following pairs of names
will conflict:

vdsbackup/english/Restore.gif and vdsbackup/english/restore.gif

vdsbackup/english/StartBackup.gif and vdsbackup/english/startbackup.gif
No files were copied. Name all files in your web uniquely and try again.
I attempted to temporarily rename these two files example restore2.gif with
the intention of changing them back (on the server) after my download was
complete. When I tried to rename a file I got Server error: Cannot create
folder "_vti_cnf" (which I am not trying to do anyway). My site is on a
Linux server so understand why duplicate names of mixed case cannot be

I read the best source to resolve wasYep, it's there in FP2K
There's also a FREE addin called "Selective Publish 3.0" available from
www.jimcoaddins.com
With Selective Publish 3.0, -----but I am hesitate to change the file names
outside of frontpage. any frontpage gurus available

You will either need to change the name or delete one or you will not be able to publish back to
your PC.

Hi

This issue normally happens to site reside on Linux/Unix server
If you try to rename the file or delete the file from FrontPage, I think
both files will be renamed or deleted
so just contact your ISP and find out which file that you doesn’t need
delete it from the server

OR

ftp to your content area and just remove one file which is having the same
name as another

thanks

I had the isp delete the files. it was a unix server issue. now i will try
to save a new page using fp which i have been unable to do.

here is another thing that you can try

create a new folder in frontpage say "test"
copy the content "restore.gif" from any one of the folders

1. vdsbackup/english/Restore.gif
OR
2. vdsbackup/english/restore.gif

to this location( test folder)

Now delete the folder "vdsbackup/engilsh" folder( this will probably delete
both the folders)
Now move the test folder to the location "vdsbackup" and rename it to
"english"

thanks
