any freeware to convert PDF to DOC or TExt other than pdftotext???

Raman

hi all,

I remember someone recommended pdftotext as freeware to change PDF files to
text format. But it doesn't work for me.

Is there any other freeware (OT shareware) to be used for the same purpose?

Hi

I believe someone mentioned to go back to and older version of
Adobe Acrobat.
See the thread here (from Friday?):
Subject: pdf to doc
Or search here for pdf to doc or other messages about this.

What doesn't work? Perhaps your problems can be fixed.

For the record, that's pdf2txt. (See previous thread about correcting
spelling errors so future google searches find the thread. :)

In version 6 of acrobat reader (that is, the current version), you can
"Save as Text". In ver 5 you need an external program like pdf2txt. As
I recall, in version 4 you could copy text to the clipboard (or
something like that).

You can convert pdf to html, not text, using PdfToHtml at
http://pdftohtml.sourceforge.net/. There are a number of html to text
converters that you could then run it through. For example,
pricelessware lists web2text:

I have seen PDF files that were "locked" There was no way to print them nor
otherwise get at the text - except, of course, the last resort. Do a print
screen and then run OCR on it ;-)

Would pdf2html do it?

I think this is the free version.

The files I have seen had no print capability at all when opened, so I don't
understand how you could
convert to HTML, unless the prog operates directly on the unopened PDF??
