Anti-spyware keeps crashing

Every time I try to run the beta version of Microsoft anti-spyware, it
crashes when it is scanning the registry keys. A pop-up comes up that says I
am out of virtual memory. I’ve increased the virtual memory to its maximum
value and it hasn’t helped. Pop-ups keep coming up the whole time the
program is running. By the time the program crashes, it has found several
spyware threats, but I am never able to remove them because it never finishes
to give me the option to. Is there a way to stop the program during a run
and delete the threats it has found up until that point? I appreciate any
suggestions.

It was an excellent advice. I tried it and worked! Only one trick was
getting out of safe mode to normal mode.
Alfter running all spirewares that I have in safe mode, I got back to normal
mode. I ran mocrosoft antispyware in normal mode and found the software does
not crash.
Good advice, Dave!

Safe mode prevents some, but by no means all--spyware services from running.
It is an excellent way to get started if something is resistant to cleaning
in normal mode, but it may not be all that is needed. Very glad that it
helped you.
