I have a AMD Athlon XP 2200 +, maxtor 160, 56 mb ddr ram, the ATA, SATA is
built in. I'm using Windows 98SE. I have tried to install XP before and got
the error message (see previous post called article 883392). I have gone
through all my files to make sure that anything to do with XP was
uninstalled. I have tried to install XP several times and still get the
error message.

What did you mean to type for memory? 56mb ddr ram seems unlikely given the
rest of the profile of your computer. Is that what you see on the System
Properites/General tab?

This is one that I cannot visualize so without being in front of the screen
I can't offer anything but the obvious, and that is that there is one more
d**ned file someplace. It comes down to find that last file or move to XP
with a clean installation. The last option depends on how you are fixed for
installation cd's for your programs and file space for backing up your data
someplace besides the C: drive (There is a wizard for it in XP called the
Files and Settings Transfer wizard).
