Another victim here for the notorious outbox problem

Hello All,

I too have this problem. I started to use WM 2 days ago and I have this
problem many times.

Deleting the message in the outbox is not a nice one after spending some
time to write it.
Sometimes I exit and restart WM not to delete the message in outbox but the
results vary.
Several times it works and send the message stucked in outbox but sometimes
I see all the messages and folders disappear when I restart WM. When I
reboot all the messages are there again but imagine the panic I have when I
see all the messages gone.

I was happy with OE6 in my XP times and used to it well. I don't know what
to do now. Maybe I should switch to another mail client.

How likely a fix from MS for this issue?

Do not worry about the outbox messages as all messages you send are saved in
the sent mail folder.

Your first order of business is to prevent this issue from recurring
by removing the cause.
Read http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3
Then uninstall your antivirus program, reboot, and try WinMail
again. After you get your email working, you will need to install
a non-intrusive antivirus program such as the free Avast.
Whichever antivirus you select, be sure to NOT enable the email
scanning option.

It is unlikely that Microsoft will fix this issue. As Gary said you first
have to fix the cause. Uninstall Norton or McAfee and turn off email
scanning in any other anti-virus.

Then get WMUtil here after reading the instructions:

Maybe Windows Mail's replacement (Windows Live Mail) will have the fix.
Let's reserve judgment until the new mail client is released later this month.

Actually I have this problem when there is no AV program installed (I had
removed Norton from the beginning).

There probably are multiple causes, but the overly intrusive AV program
is the most common.

I don't know what they might be. But I developed some workarounds (they are
not nice but they work for me).
1- Switch to offline and online again, exit and restart WM. It sends the
unsent message(s) during startup.
2- If it doesn't work, kill WM and restart it.
