Another T1 Line

Hi All

I have a new t1 line that is preconfigured with own set of dns and ips.
We currently run DNS, no dhcp, dc, no global cat, no exchange[it is
routed the hq]
Box 1 routes the traffic(no outside access)

We now have a router, and 2 managed switches
I used a crossover cable to connect from box 1 to box 2 and box 2 to
box 3
The T1 goes to the router from router to box 2

And on my workstation which is currently joined to the Box 1------- I
added ip/dns/subnetmask/gateway to my workstation. I was able to access
the internet and the unix servers after making that entry. But the
mapped drives stopped working. I got it back working once I mapped it
ip address instead of name of the machine.

So where and what would I add in the active directory to get the
mapping right? And do it all once from the active directory perpective.
Do I add it as dns zone? Or add it as a subnet in site msc.

I think now the best solution is to change ip to reflect the new one.
or use the method I did on the 1 workstation.

Thanks in Advance
Joe

I can't make heads or tails of how you are configured from our diagram. What
are "box 1", "box 2" and "box 3". A T1 is a transport mechanism and doesn't
offer an IP range or DNS unless it's connected to an ISP or something of
your own to give it those capabilities. How is the T1 "pre-configured" with
"its own set of DNS and ips"?

You're right as I had mentioned "[it is routed the[through] hq]" hq
Box 1 is my switch that confines me to my LAN.

The Box2 and 3 are switches that gives internet access.

T1 to the router and router to switch 1/2

The question I am trying to make is what aspect of the Active directory
do I enter in the new IPs. We already have the current information
entered for DNS.
Can I add another DNS information to DNS?
Is there such a things as 2 DNS?

All Active Directory domain members must use only DNS servers that support
the AD domain. If the DHCP on the T1's router are not assigning DNS servers
that support the AD domain, they cannot be used on Domain Members. The
recommended configuration is to run DNS on your DCs and use the DCs'
addresses ONLY for DNS. Don't use any DNS server that does not support the
AD domain on any domain member, in any position.

If you're having drive mapping problems it is because you don't have proper
NetBIOS resolution, and the DNS servers cannot resolve the file server's IP.

I have a Windows 2000 Server. I have one domain controller and I am
running DNS but not DHCP.. I have set up
static IP addresses for each computer and the server. It's all
connected via a switch.
We can now have internet access. The ISP have given us the ips.

Where do I add all the new ip related information?
