Another request for recommendation for multifunction

I know this topic comes up regularly, but Canon, at least, has recently
introduced new models that I've not seen discussed much. So...today what
might you recommend for a good printer/copier?

I mainly want:
- a solid, reliable printer that won't clog if left alone for a month
and will run for years (does anyone make an inkjet that can do this, or
should I go laser?)
- fast, good and fairly waterproof black-and-white output
- fast, reliable black-and-white copies
- MacOS X compatible with reliable software (I know HP's software has
been notoriously bad in this regards, but maybe they finally got it
working?)
- quiet
- economical printing

So far, I realize that a laser would probably serve best. But also, if I
can get all that in an inkjet, I'd appreciate:

- nice fast 4x6 color prints (sending them out for printing is almost
certainly cheaper, but it'd be nice to print at home)
- fast startup
- not too huge or power hungry (at least in standby mode)

I don't care about scanning, fax, paper feeder, LCD, etc.

Any advice most welcome (especially if it doesn't turn into a flame war
about 3rd party ink/toner).

Regards,

HP with integrated ink cart and printhead

That is the rub. There is not real good fully labeled branded
aftermarket ink.

That just screams laser IMO.

Get a mid-end inkjet (canon 4000/4200) specifically for that, or hire out
your photo printing..

Measkite! Your clog was released! You are typing in lower case!! We must
have found the fully labelled, branded OEM Measkite.
