My ISP cd has installed an automatic pair of annoying
options that do not appear anywhere in the start up
folders - any suggestions as to how I can remove them?

Hi
If you go start>run type msconfig go to start up untick any programs you do
not want to start up.

What annoying options are they? Do they startup when you boot up your
machine? If so click the start button and the click Run. In the run box type
'msconfig' (without the quotes) When the msconfig window opens click the
startup tab. Look down the list and see if you can find anything associated
with your isp. If you locate it then uncheck the check box by the side of it
to disable it. After you have finished click the Apply button followed by Ok
to exit.
Now reboot your machine. The first thing that will appear is a notice
telling you that you are using troubleshooting mode - this is because you
have altered the startup configuration. You can two things - click ok or
place a check mark in the box at the bottom left of the message screen. If
you tick the box the message will not appear again. If you just click Ok the
message will appear each time you boot up. Make your selection and then
check to see if, by disabling the item you found in the startup section, the
problem has been solved.

Hope this helps

Thanks Dave, I did what you suggest but the program that
creates the problem is required for the broadband
connection. Any other suggestions? Jim

Right click on your broadband connection and see if there is any
configuration box like "options" or "settings" that you can open to unselect
certain options.
