I have a couple of problems. I have a new system using XP
and IE6 preloaded. I am connected to Comcast. Before I
could get a firewall installed I got a bunch of pop ups
and porn sites coming thru. Then I got a "cannot display
this page" message. It pops up on a regular basis in its
own window, with no way to close it except by using task
manager. On the menu bar is says Reminder, with the current
date and time. It pops up even when I am not using IE6 am
just working with programs or even not doing anything(the
computer stays on all the time)
Second after Norton Anti Virus detected a virus and a
trojan horse and fixed the virus and quarantined the
trojan horse, I can't get to my banks web site. I talked
with the banks IT person and we tried some things but
nothing works. I can go anywhere on the internet except
there. When I type in the address I get a wierd search page
and at the top is says page can not be found. If I click
the back button a few times the banks page pops up but it
won't stay.
HELP!

Charlotte,

For the unwanted browser pop-ups: Download Ad-Aware from www.lavasoftusa.com and update it:

1. Start Ad-Aware.
2. Click [Check for Updates] [Connect] and download the latest pattern file if available. and click Finish
3. Click [Start] [Next] (System will now detect the spyware)
4. After the scan is finished, click [Next]
5. Select all the items (checkboxes)
NOTE: Right click on any object in the "Scan result" list and choose [Select all objects]"
6. Click Next and click OK to confirm spyware removal.

For the reminder window showing "page not found" error: Is this a Compaq/HP computer?

Ad-Aware found a lot of problems, but it didn't fix my
problem.
I do have a Compaq Presario. The "This page cannot be
displayed" is the same window you get when you do type in
an invalid URL. The message you list doesn't show up. It
is a reminder window.
Should I download spybot?
