I have a new computer running XP Home. I keep
encountering a very annoying problem. It arises during
various times regardless of what I am doing. It is even
present on the screen when I return from standby mode.

What happens is a message box appears on screen. The
title is NotifyAlert.exe---Common Language Runtime
Debugging Services. The text of the box is: Application
has generated an exception that could not be handled.
Processid=oxcf0(3312), Threadid=0x700(1792)
When I click 'Cancel' to debug, another message box
appears with the title NotifyAlert.exe--No debugger
found. The text is Registered JIT debugger is not
available. An attempt to launch a JIT debugger with the
following command resulted in an error code of ox2(2).
Please check computer settings. The command it lists is
cordbg.exe !a oxcf0

It appears benign. No matter whether I debug or
terminate, the computer works fine but it always recurs
without any discernable frequency or pattern.

I have searched the Microsoft site for any assistance and
some downloads have failed to resolve the problem.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Rob,

Thank you for referring me to the Dell forum. My
computer is indeed a Dell. The "NotifyAlert.exe" problem
is apparently a very widespread problem (understatement).
At least now I have volumes of information about it at my
fingertips. Thank you.
