annoying lag before email is displayed

I am using Outlook 2003, all latest updates installed. I
have noticed lately that the preview panel (right side,
when viewing email) is extremely slow to react. I can
click on an email subject, and have it take 15 seconds or
so for it to display the email on the right. Other times
I will need to click OFF the email (click another email)
and then back to the original email, for it to display at
all, and still have the lag time. Has anyone run into
this problem, and know what could be causing it? I do
have outlook showing html and images in emails (no
warnings please, I'm aware of the "risk"). Could this be
the problem? Thanks in advance! Richard

This is a shot in the dark, but try disabling IM (Person Names Smart Tags)
on Tools>Options>Other.

This seemed to be a problem in earlier versions of
Outlook, but I think was cleared up in 2003. Even so,
disabling the IM feature doesn't affect this problem.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

Anybody else?
