Annoying Chimes

I am brand new to XP, after loading a few programs i keep getting chimes on start-up. At first this was combined with a network conection warning. Now it's just the chimes. I know i haven't tried everything but your help is much appreciated

Hi Chalky,

Open the control panel and double click the "Sounds and Audio Devices. On
the "Sounds" tab, you can choose whatever sound options you want.
